Merillat Manufacturing Facility – Los Lunas, NM
This manufacturing plant in Los Lunas, NM was built to assemble residential cabinetry. Masco, the parent company of Merillat, and Quality Cabinets, has chosen this site in Los Lunas for its newest and most state of the art assembly plant in the country.The building is a total of 360, 187 SF on a 50 acre site. It features an office and break area of 15, 664 SF with an assembly room large enough for all the employees of this facility to congregate.
Merillat also features a 60, 000 SF finishing room in which unfinished wood products move through a complex system of conveyors until they exit the room finished. This room is supported by an 800 SF explosion relief finish batching room in which all of the various finish colors and formulas are batched and sent back into the building in a complex system of stainless steel lines.
Value engineering was required on this project to maintain owner budgets. The result was a better quality structure, lower initial costs, and lower secondary costs in air conditioning and the humidification system. Also, we were able to utilize pre-manufactured wiring for plant lighting as well as many other options included in the final building. This building, which is over 8 acres under one roof, was constructed in an amazing 9-1/2 months utilizing cutting-edge techniques and a totally new perspective on how concrete tilt up construction can be done.
