"If you are thinking 'What If', then you
are not just designing, you're solving problems"
Jeff Wallis - CEO ALSTATE STEEL

A man looks at a blueprint and a process starts. Steel is not just the core, but heart of a building. Your delivery schedule has a ripple effect upon your project and everyone associated with it. Providing structural material to specifications, at precisely the right time, is necessary and mandatory. Alstate's professional team will provide you with Steel Solutions you require, making it easy  to find, compare, select, and specify the right system for your project. From typical framing studies to total structural systems, including project costs and schedules, we can provide you with up-to-date information for your next project! An Alstate Conceptual Solution can include: framing system comparisons based on economy, ease of erection and project schedule, simple floor framing bay studies and optimized column layouts, evaluation of steel framing systems for project specific requirements including low floor-to-floor heights and vibration, member sizes and steel quantities based on comprehensive framing studies, information on protective coating systems for exposed steel and life cycle costs. These are just a few of the many solutions that Alstate can provide for your project.

Conceptual Estimating

Alstate Steel has mastered the concept of conceptual estimating. We have the skill to look at the performance specifications and footprint of a structure and develop a budget for all of the activities relating to steel in the structure: detailing, fabricating, painting, transporting and erecting. Conceptual estimating is not just making a good guess at the cost of the steel in a project. It is listening to the owner and understanding the project’s goals. It is understanding structural systems, assemblies and their costs. It is comprehending the price of steel, not when it leaves the fabricating shop, but when it is in place on the structure. It is the search for a more efficient and productive way to manage the steel process. Conceptual estimating is the skill of costing a project from the view of the whole project looking down, rather than from the details looking up. There are many stages of the conceptual estimating process: feasibility estimates, performance criteria estimates, conceptual design estimates, detailed estimates and life cycle-cost estimates. At each progressive stage, our estimate will be better refined and contain fewer contingencies. We accomplish this with a thorough understanding of what the owner requires and our ability to "think" conceptually—i.e. Our goal is to have a full and clear visual mental picture of what the owner intends to do with his building, and how he wants it to look and perform. We bring our conceptual estimating expertise to every design-build project with the industries most experienced project managers, advanced technology and a progressive attitude of "conceptual thinking".
